Doing a boudoir session is a massive thing for most women.. It is stepping outside their comfort zone and being vulnerable. So today I wanted to share the top 5 reasons why women chicken out of doing a boudoir session and what you can do to overcome your fears and embrace your vulnerability and do a shoot!
I’m not photogenic.
This is one of the most common reasons I hear not only as a boudoir photographer, but as a photographer in general. My response to this is that it is my job to make you photogenic. I will guide you, pose you, share as much knowledge as I can to prepare for the shoot. I promise to make you look and feel amazing in front of the camera.
I need to loose 10kgs or I’m not at the weight I want to be.
This is also another really common reason. My philosophy is it doesn’t matter what you weigh. You can and are allowed to celebrate who you are right now in this moment. You are beautiful now and deserve to own beautiful photographs that remind you how you felt during the session… And with good posing, outfits, hair and makeup you can look and feel amazing in front of the camera.
I don’t know how to pose.
That is totally fine! I hardly ever photograph models, so I have learnt how to guide, direct and give you lots of actions to create beautiful relaxed gorgeous boudoir photographs. Plus I will talk your ear off during the session as it is one of the best ways to feel comfortable!
I don’t have a partner.
That is totally ok! Why not do the session as a gift to yourself. Just because you don’t have a partner doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to look and feel beautiful, confident, empowered and more comfortable in your own skin. Plus I totally believe that most girls use the excuse of a gift to their partner but really want to do it for themselves!
I don’t own any lingerie.
You don’t need a hugely expensive lingerie wardrobe to do a shoot. I am sure you a few basic items in your wardrobe that you could utilise: – a basic black set, a white singlet with plain pair of bonds, one of his oversized business shirts with a colourful bra underneath or even just a simple g-string to wear under the white sheets and for some implied nudes!
