The Wedding….

What was your wedding date?
30th April 2017

Why did you choose this date? Any special reason?
Because the day before was Lisa’s grandmothers birthday, but we wanted an April wedding. Also, because the day after our anniversary every year will be a public holiday!

Where did you have your wedding?
Scarborough – Endeavour Park

Was there any special touches, vows, traditions or tributes that you included into your ceremony?
We included a rendition of Amazing Grace as this is one of our favourite worship songs. We also chose a bible passage from Colossians to be read by a close friend. A emphasis on God’s part in our relationship was very important to us.

If you could pick one special moment from the day to remember what would it be?
Jonathan: The kiss
Lisa: Walking down the aisle and the sunset driving to the reception

The Gown….

Who designed your gown?
Pre-designed

Where was it purchased?
Luv Bridal – Logan

What was your gown shopping experience like? Was this dress the first one you tried on? Did you try on hundreds, loved it, hated it?
I only went dress shopping once, and it was only a few months out from the wedding. I must have underestimated the time dress shopping would take. Shop assistants kept telling me I needed to find my dress very soon. I became torn between 2 different gowns at two different stores. I thought I was sold on a gown from Ferrari Bridal, but then we visited Luv Bridal. I loved the dress I tried on a Luv Bridal, but it didn’t have “enough bling or sleeves”. Straight away the shop assistant brought a beautiful diamante belt and some lace cap sleeves to add to the dress. Suddenly, I knew this was the one.

Where there any special details you included in your day? Did you borrow a piece of jewellery etc?
Tied around my bouquet was my late grandmothers engagement ring she left to me.

What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?
Old – My grandmothers ring
New –  Dress
Borrowed – A promise ring from Jonathan (also tied around my bouquet)
Blue –  The necklace I wore shined blue in the light

Did you have any DIY elements to your day?
I made all of the bouquets and buttonholes myself from faux flowers and plants. Our centrepieces at reception were also all handmade. We spray painted branches silver and dangled crystals from them. Everything turned out so well.

If you could describe the overall theme of your wedding day what would it be?
Vintage Beach

Advice…

Do you have any advice for other brides?
Take in every moment of the day – it goes so fast. This is advice I heard a lot in the lead up to my wedding and it helped. Also, choose your bridal party wisely.

What made your wedding day so memorable?
It was just heaps of fun. And perfect weather.

What was the funniest memory from your wedding day?
A tie between my chair slipping through the stage at the reception whilst Jonathan’s uncle was praying. And, my dress attaching itself to my work boss’s top – we were attached by our breasts!

What was the weather and location like on the day?
Stunning. Blue skies and perfect temperature. The water was glistening behind us and in the afternoon there was a gorgeous sunset!

If there was one thing that you would change from the day, what would it be and why?
How I had my hair + possibly less bridesmaids

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Thailand – Phuket and Koh Yao Island We got a fantastic package on Groupon and so much was included.

And a few beautiful words from Jonathan & Lisa-Marie about Nicole Barralet Photography…

Fantastic from the get go! Everything from our engagement photoshoot to our wedding we loved. The images were beautiful and will serve as a reminder of this very special time in our lives. Nicole goes above and beyond what we expected. Everything from getting to know us personally as a couple to the beautiful presentation of our packages when we returned to collect them. We would definitely recommend these services to others and hope to return sometime in the future – maybe when we have our first child! Thank you for everything, Nicole.
