It has been a little while since we have showcased some gorgeous wedding inspiration, so today’s post is all about the wedding Veil. As photographers, I just love it when a bride wears a veil – short, long, bird cage or cathedral length, it is so much fun being able to play with a gorgeous veil during location photographs.
It is very interesting to read all about the history of wedding veils. The significance and symbolism of the veil varies depending on what you read. Some of the earliest origins were the veil was used to protect the bride from the weather (sunshine or wind) and to preserve modesty of woman, protection against evil spirits and of course the symbolism of modesty and purity.
These days many brides take a more modern approach to their bridal veil choosing veils that compliment their dresses. A beautiful tradition that still exists in many weddings is the veil being handed down from generation to generation as a family heirloom. Pretty special I think.
Did you have a veil on your wedding day? Why/Why not? I’d love to hear your feedback.
