Jo & Joel | Wedding | Gabbinbar Homestead | 1st September 2012
On Saturday, Priya and I had the privilege of heading up to Gabbinbar Homestead to photograph the beautiful wedding of Jo & Joel. On Friday I was a little worried about the weather as it was overcast, cloudy and a little bit chilly, but when Saturday arrived, there was nothing but clear blue skies and sunshine all around. We started the day off with the boys at their home, where we were greeted with smiles and yummy smells of a bbq in the background. Joel was the happiest I had ever seen and I knew how excited he was to be marrying the girl of his dreams. We then headed up the range to Toowoomba to arrive at one of the most stunning locations I have been to in a while – the beautiful Gabbinbar Homestead. The owner Isaac met us and gave us a personal tour of the grounds before we headed in to photograph the beautiful Jo. Jo and her bridesmaids were in their bridal retreat finishing up their hair and make up. Jo looked absolutely amazing with her gorgeous curls and beautiful dress and was super excited to be marrying the man of her dreams.
It was then off to the front lawn under a big gorgeous fig tree, where Reg their celebrant (and also one of the bridesmaid’s Dad) married them in a beautiful ceremony. There were tears all around as this couple exchanged vows and their union was sealed with a kiss. We then headed off around the beautiful grounds of Gabbinbar for bridal party portraits. There are so many gorgeous areas to photograph in the Gabbinbar grounds that I wish we had 3 or 4 hours for photographs. The staff were amazing and even came down into the paddock with drinks and canapes for the bridal party. As the sun went down, so did the temperature, so we headed back into the homestead where they had lit all the fires and we were treated to an amazing reception decorated by the lovely Aimee of Inspirational Elegance. The room was so elegantly decorated with fairy lights, beautiful white flower centrepieces and an amazing lolly/dessert bar. We had an amazing dinner, with heartfelt speeches (which even had me tear up!) and a fantastic first dance where Jo & Joel choreographed a dance to Keith Urban’s Making Memories of Us. The beautiful day ended with a tunnel farewell before Jo & Joel jumped into their stretch limo and headed off into the night.
It was such a pleasure for Priya and I to be part of this special day. We worked with some amazing suppliers – Scott from Story Teller Films (check out Scott’s blog, there is a ceremony sneak peak video edit), Aimee from Inspirational Elegance and Issac from Gabbibar. It made the day run so smoothly and allowed Jo and Joel to have an amazing wedding day. Enjoy the little sneak peak and I can’t wait to show you the rest!!
