Kangaroo Point Wedding Photography | A Real Life Wedding….

Peta & Greg | Wedding | Brisbane, Kangaroo Point, GoMA | 18th May 2011

In February, I photographed my first “surprise” wedding. Peta and Greg had a crazy year of ups and downs and didn’t want a wedding with all the fuss. They just wanted to be married and celebrate their love. So on the Friday, Peta & Greg were married at the Brisbane Registry Office. We had a few quick family photos and then headed off around Brisbane for some formal photographs. Then on the Sunday, we headed up to Cairns for a Trash the Dress session. It was awesome. Peta & Greg were more relaxed and we just wandered around and took some amazing beach photographs.

So as someone who witnesses all different kinds of weddings, my biggest piece of advice would be.. make it about you. If you want an intimate wedding, then have one, if you want a big wedding to celebrate long and hard, then do!! Just be sure to include your immediate family in what ever decision you make. They love you and want to be able to share your big day with you. Even if this means a small registry wedding or a massive church wedding, share your day with the people that love you.

So here is Peta’s Real Life Wedding story….

How did you meet and how long have you known each other?

Peta: We met each other through mutual friends… we have known each other just on 7.5 years.

How did he propose?

Peta: He proposed on my 21st Birthday. I was given strict instructions to be home by 3pm on my birthday as he had to take me somewhere… we pulled in at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.. I thought we were off to Myer to buy a bag I had been eyeing off. As we walked through the shopping centre, we were heading in the wrong direction to Myer. I was getting a little confused. We however arrived at a little boutique jeweller in the centre where Greg pointed out the Pandora Charms and said choose whatever one I want (he had gotten me a bracelet for my birthday) as I was looking  at all the cahrms, the Jeweller said to me how did I find these… when I looked up she had about 5 diamond engagement rings looking at… I then looked at Greg and said “Are you serious?” He replied.. “Choose one and it’s yours!” I couldn’t stop crying!!! Greg is not the most romantic guy, but the way he proposed was him all over! I LOVE IT!!!

Peta: Don’t stress about your wedding! As long as you & your husband are there that’s all that matters….nothing else!

What made your wedding day so memorable?

Peta: The intimacy of our day made it very special, we were able to enjoy each others company and really take in the day & the experience.

What was the weather and location like on the day?

Peta: I can not rate the registry office & the Hotel Urban high enough, they were very helpful & the room was lovely decorated. We had fantastic weather…couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

If there was one thing that you would change from the day, what would it be and why?

Peta: We thought long and hard about this question….We honestly would not change a thing! It was perfect…exactly what we wanted!

Thank you Peta and Greg for choosing me to be your wedding photographer. I had a ball photographing your special day and also being flown up to Cairns for your trash the dress session. I wish you all the best for your future lives together….

For something a little different…

As Peta & Greg kept their wedding a secret, they wanted to send out a little card to let everyone else know that they were married! So I tailor designed these beautiful cards to send out to all of their friends and family. What a beautiful way to show off some of their photos from the day. These cards are also perfect as Thank You cards for gifts you receive at your wedding!
