Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Andrew and Kristen. It was such a spectacular day!! The skies were blue, the temperature was warm and love was in the air! We started off the day with the boys at Andrew’s parents house. The boys looked great in their black Hugo Boss suits. Andrew was relaxed and excited to be marrying the girl of his dreams! Then we were off to the girls where things were also quite relaxed. The Powder Room girls were just finishing up hair and makeup as we arrived and Kristen was super excited to hop into her dress. I absolutely loved the “red wine” theme of the day. The bridesmaids gorgeous deep burgundy dresses and Kristen’s stunning gown was made by the lovely Gloria Gomez. And the flowers were just divine!! Kristen herself is a florist and so flowers were super important to her. She entrusted the beautiful Kate Dawes to create the most beautiful bouquets that matched the theme perfectly. I absolutely loved all the different types of flowers with their textures and tones. As a photographer I love hearing about all the details and the stories behind them especially the something old, new, borrowed and blue. Kristen had a gorgeous hankie from her Great Nana that was old and borrowed. It had been made for her grand-daughter and great-grandaughters wedding which was something so precious. The something new was her beautiful gown and her something blue was the gorgeous earrings gifted from her God mother. After some beautiful portraits and family photos, before long we were finished with getting ready and ready to head off to St Stephens for the ceremony.
Kristen and the girls arrived in total style in the gorgeous Kenz Classic Jaguars. I had never photographed a wedding in St Stephens before and I was looking forward to it. It is such an iconic church and a beautiful place for Andrew and Kristen to be married. Father Pascoe conducted the beautiful Catholic service. One of the most beautiful moments I have seen in a while was that both Andrew and Kristen had completely memorised their vows and the words they had to say when they exchanged rings. I had never witnessed that before and it was beautiful to watch them look into each others eyes and promise to love and cherish each other forever. After the signing of the register, it was time for a group photo and some family photographs before we headed off to Kangaroo Point for some bridal party portraits.
We had the most beautiful skies and it seemed as though everyone was getting married in Brisbane! But Andrew and Kristen only had eyes for each other and we had so much fun capturing some beautiful photographs for them! Then it was off to Landing at Dockside in the River Room where the celebrations continued! The River Room at Landing at Dockside looked absolutely magical with gorgeous white tablecloths, gold cutlery and accents, beautiful wine boxes filled with flowers, fairy lights and gorgeous LOVE letters. The evening was full of beautiful food, good wine, beautiful heartfelt speeches, a magical first dance and some crazy fun dancing to finish off the night. Rod from Nuflava Entertainment was awesome!!
It was such a wonderful wedding day to be part of! Thank you so much Andrew and Kristen for inviting us to be part of your special day. We absolutely felt like part of the family. A big thanks to Mary for seconding shooting and GD for filming a little highlights video of the day. I can’t wait to share the video! Enjoy your sneaky peek!
