Nicky & Markus | Wedding | Powerhouse & Emporium Hotel Brisbane | 11th Novemeber 2012
Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading to the Powerhouse for the beautiful wedding of Nicky & Markus. We were all a little worried about the weather as Saturday was heavy heavy rain, but Sunday afternoon, there was not a cloud in sight. The only thing we had to worry about was the gusty wind up on the Riverbend Deck where the ceremony was taking place. We met firstly with Markus before the ceremony for some portraits of him and his family out the front of the Powerhouse. Markus looked very handsome in his 3 piece suit. We then met Nicky at the entrance of the Powerhouse. She was looking just gorgeous! I loved her gorgeous dress and beautiful long veil.
We headed up stairs for the beautiful heartfelt ceremony conducted by Sally Evans. It was just a tad bit windy up on the deck. So much so that Nicky had to take out her veil half way through the ceremony before it blew away. Nicky and Markus are such a gorgeous beautiful couple. They truly love and respect each other and this was very evident throughout their ceremony. A beautiful touch was a love letter ceremony where they exchanged love letters and placed them in a box that was to be locked and to be opened on their first wedding anniversary with a bottle of wine. I had never heard of this before and I think it is truly a special touch. How nice would it be to read that letter a year, or twenty down the track. After the I do’s and the signing of the register, it was congratulation times and we could just feel the love for this couple from everyone in attendence. They are truly cherished by their friends and family.
Then we headed off for some formal photographs with the bridal party. It was a very unique bridal party with both sister’s being involved – one as a bridesmaid and one as the best woman. The sunlight under the fig trees was just gorgeous and the wind picked up Nicky’s veil and gave us some gorgeous photo opportunities. And of course being at the Powerhouse, we had to capture some gorgeous shots in front of the bricked walls. They are such an awesome texture!! Then it was off to the Emporium for some photos at the pool and then down to the bar for cocktail hour with their family and friends.
It was truly a pleasure for Lisa and I to photograph Nicky and Markus’ gorgeous day! We had a wonderful afternoon. We hope your day was all that you dreamt it to be and I can’t wait to show you the rest when you get back from your 2 weeks in Bali (I’m very jealous!!!)
