Over the weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the awesome grassroots music festival that is Outside Tribe. It was such an amazing experience to be part of and GD and I had an absolute ball even though we were “working”. It was an insanely long day and I am still catching up on sleep (seriously I am getting old haha) but I feel incredibly recharged by the experience. I think that comes from being part of something that was fun, relaxing and just full of creativity. Plus I got to step outside my photography comfort zone and do something a little different.
And secondly there was one particular artist that I just can’t stop thinking about… Elko Fields.
Seriously. These guys rocked it!! As soon as they took the stage, I couldn’t look away. I snapped way too many photos! I don’t normally listen to too much heavy rock, but I could of rocked out to these guys all night long! You couldn’t help but move your body and get into the spirit of the music with these guys.. To be honest I am quite surprised that the photos were in focus hahah
Kella the lead singer was seriously amazing!! As soon as she stepped on to that stage she was all in. She gave 150% and owned that stage. She rocked that guitar, sang like it was the last time she would ever perform and rocked out with Jhindu the drummer like they were the only two people in the room.
Her passion, her presence, her confidence and her talent…. all of it was so infectious!! I can’t help but be inspired to pursue my passions in life with the same gusto and confidence that Kella does!!!
And we can’t forget the other half that makes up Elko Fields – Jhindu. He owned that drumset too and wasn’t afraid to rock it out with Kella on stage. I mean seriously… look at how much fun he is having!!
One of my big realisations over the weekend was that I need to do more of this kind of thing.. Stepping outside of my comfort zone, being social, living life and not just being all business. Elko Fields inspired me to reignite my passion as a photographer and give it all I’ve got.. These guys are going places and I can’t wait to see where that journey takes them. It was a privilege to see them perform at Outside Tribe.
