Today I wanted to share some suggestions on when to book in and update your family portraits. There is never a bad time to capture new family photos. So whether or not you invest in them every year, or you wait for those milestones, documenting your family, it’s love and relationships is always a good idea. You just never know what is around the corner.
But today I wanted to share some ideas for when to capture and update your family portraits:
• Maternity & Newborn
• 1st Birthday Portraits
• Christmas Updates – a good reminder to do it annually
• Every 5 years as the kids grow
• Milestone Birthdays – 18, 21, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80
• Extended Family Get-togethers
And then there are the times of the year of when it is great to update the family portraits. The Easter, mid year and September school holidays are always a great opportunity to capture your family. Most of the time there is the opportunity for time off work and kids off school, so a weekday afternoon is a perfect time for an update.
Then there are the seasons – autumn, winter and spring are always ideal as it’s not too hot or too cold. Summer can be great as the days are longer so the photo sessions can take place later in the afternoon/evening but you always have to be mindful of the heat and of course those unpredictable summer storms.
So there you have it, a few ideas of when to update your family portraits. I hope you found it helpful!
