One of the biggest decisions you will make about your wedding day is where you will get married. There are so many things to consider when choosing a venue – style, location, cost, how many people and where to stay if you are not close to home.
There are so many options to choose from but I wanted to highlight a couple of things.
If you choose to have your ceremony and reception at different venues, you need to factor in travel time in between ceremony location to bridal party photo location to reception location when you are planning out the day. How far between both and will there be enough time from the end of the ceremony and sunset for a good amount of location photos?
All in One
There are many venues that offer an all in one experience. You can have your ceremony, your photos and your reception all in the one spot. This is perfect if you want to save on travel time and don’t want there to be a huge amount of time that your guests will be standing around waiting for the photos to be taken.
Another positive about an all in one venue is generally they already have the wet weather ceremony option sorted for you. So if you dream of an outdoor wedding or dining experience and the weather is looking bad then there will be an option for you to be indoors. One less thing to stress about.
And what about wet weather? One thing to consider when choosing your venue is it suitable if the weather turns and it is pouring down with rain? If you are wanting an outdoor ceremony, is there a wet weather option? And are there places within the venue that you could use for your bridal party photos if it is rainy? Or covered areas nearby?
As photographers we are always looking for the best light and this is definitely something to consider when deciding on your ceremony location. Will you be in the shade or in the full sun? When doing a walk through of the venue, look at where the sun is coming from. And even better, try and arrange the walk through around the same time as your ceremony. That way you can see what it looks like. There is nothing worse then standing in full sun, sweating while saying your vows.
So there you have it, a few things to think about when choosing your wedding venue. I thought I would end this blog with a few of my favourite wedding venues in and around Brisbane.
