Jerado & Kristy | Wedding | Wynnum Golf Club | 13th April 2014
Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Jerado and Kristy. And wow what a day it was! We woke to overcast skies which turned into a day of constant rain, but even the rain couldn’t put a damper on the happy couple’s spirit. I am pretty sure I heard Jerado saying that it was just “Sky Confetti raining down its blessings on their day”. We started the day out at Ipswich for the preparation of the boys. This is when the rain really started, but we made it work and the boys were not afraid to get outside in the rain for some photos. Jerado’s family was so welcoming to us, we were given mango smoothies as we were working and a guided tour of the property. Nothing was too much to ask. I can see where Jerado gets his kindness from – his family. As well as feeling incredibly welcome, it was also so much fun photographing the boys. Most of the boys were Jerado’s brothers and they are all such larakins which made the process of photos lots of fun.
After we had finished with the boys, it was back to Brisbane (with a couple of bridesmaids in the back seat) to photograph the girls. It was surprisingly calm at the girls house and everyone was dressed and ready for some photos. As the rain wasn’t looking like it was going to stop, some of the girls headed out for buy some umbrellas for the photos. Kristy was a little stressed about the day, but after a few deep breathes and a few minutes of calm, she was getting excited that her big day was finally here.
Then it was off to the ceremony at Boulevard Gardens where due to the wet weather, the ceremony had changed location to indoors. We had a little bit of a hold up as the groom’s parents and some of the groomsmen were stuck behind an accident on the highway and Kristy arrived before they did, Kristy was off to do a few laps before they arrived. Once they arrived, everyone was good to go and the ceremony proceeded. The ceremony was beautiful and heartfelt with a reading from a close friend and a beautiful song from two of the bridal party. Then it was time to exchange vows and rings… but there was a little hiccup when Jerado was unable to untie the ring from the ring pillow. He tried and tried and eventually pulled the ribbon off the pillow, but then had to try to get the ribbon off with his teeth before finally a guest gave him some scissors. It was just another little funny moment that proceeded throughout the day. Once the ring was finally off the pillow, the ceremony continued and Jerado and Kristy finally were pronounced husband and wife and their union was sealed with a kiss. After the signing of the register, it was off to the balcony to take some family photos before we headed off to the Wynnum Golf Club for some bridal portraits.
Again, it was still raining and another little mishap along the way, the groomsmen were stranded when the car they were in popped a tyre. So we decided to head out onto the greens in some golf buggies with just Kristy and Jerado while the boys were ferried back to the reception. We ended up doing all of the location photographs pretty much in the rain and in the dark, but it was just another part of the day. And we were attacked by mozzies while on the greens. I have never been bitten so many times! Then a couple of quick bridal party portraits before they headed in to the reception to celebrate the night away.
Thank you so much Jerado and Kristy for inviting us to be part of your wedding day. We had such a pleasure photographing the day with all of its weather challenges and mishaps. Thank you for being such good sports and heading out in the rain with the mozzies to capture some beautiful portraits of you both. And a big shout out to Kyle who came out and second shot with me yesterday. You did an awesome job! So enjoy the sneak peek and I can’t wait to show you the rest!!
