I am so excited!! Its been just over a week since launching my blog and I must admit I have been overwhelmed with the response of so many. Thank you to all of my wonderful family and friends who have been checking out my blog and passing it around to all their family and friends.
Its been a really scary venture for me. I love photographing. I have found my passion for it again, and I am literally picking up my camera every day and wanting to take photographs. It has been a while since I have really felt like this. I guess the day to day reality kicks in and things happen that chip away at your passion. I am feeling so free at the moment. I have been spending a fair bit of time finding inspiration, researching business ideas and trying to keep the bills at bay. Its been quite a hard week, one filled with lots of ups and downs, but I am really looking forward to what lies ahead.
Here are the people who are most inspiring to me at the moment:
Kara – my sis. At 21 she started her own business and has grown it together with Dad from the ground up. It has been a rollercoaster ride for the both of them, filled with many highs and lows, but when they look at the big picture, it has been an amazing journey for the both of them. Kara is the co-owner of Ella Baché Ipswich. You can check them out here.
Jasmine Star – j* is one of the most inspiring photographers in world. She is an amazing Amercian wedding and portrait photographer. I find her blog, educational, inspirational and above all, she has given me the strength to think about taking photography seriously in my life. I love how she is so candid and so open about her life, and loves sharing and educating with other photographers. I hope one day to be as successful photographer and business woman she is today. You can check out her site here.
The Life Change Experiment – I am not sure if many people have heard about this, but the name might sound familiar. Bessie Bardot and her husband and child became sick of their lives. They were over going through life on auto pilot, striving for material possessions that had no real benefit to they way they were living their lives. So they decided they wanted to change. So they gave away all of their earthly possessions and jumped in a Winnebago and have set off around Australia on an amazing journey of self discovery. I guess there are times in our lives, where we think “life would be much better if only… we had a better car, a better house.” I guess the one thing that I have learned recently is to make sure that you are happy and content with what you have. Material possessions mean nothing. It’s just stuff. Its the important things in life like friends and family that make this journey worthwhile. Spend time with the ones you love. Document them. Strive for Change. I want to be remembered in this life by the person I am, not the things I own. I know that I am not perfect but I guess my new mantra is to take time out to appreciate the things we have in life and share good times with the people we love. Well I think thats enough of my friday thoughts for now. I am so excited for next week. I am off to Christchurch for a couple of days to meet the rest of my man’s family and for him to take me on a guided tour of all the local spots he used to hang out.
Here’s a quote from the life change experiment to finish off the working week:
“Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” — Judy Garland….
ps. life is always better with a tilley smile. so here’s one for you xo
