Ipswich Wedding Photographer | A Real Life Wedding Story…

Debie & Stephen | Wedding | Ipswich | 28th April 2012

Back in April I had the pleasure to photograph the sweetest couple – Debie & Stephen. Debie had returned home from America to be married in her home town to her American husband. Even though the weather was absolutely disgraceful with torrential rain, it never put a dampener on the day. It was such a magical day for Debie and Stephen to be surrounded by friends and family. These two were clearly meant for each other and the move half way around the world was definitely worth it. Here is their Real Life Wedding Story.

Date of Wedding:  28th April 2012
Number of Guests: 57
Wedding Theme: Church/Traditional

How did you meet and how long have you known eachother?
Debie: We met in June 2009 in Okinawa, Japan. Stephen was stationed there serving with the US Marines and I was on holidays from my job in Sydney. We met the second night I was there at a mutual friends birthday dinner and spent everyday for the next 2 weeks together. Fast forward the last 3 years, which included Skype dates, expensive international trips, a deployment to Afghanistan and an interview with immigration, we are now married and living happily ever after in a life we both dreamed about!
How did he propose?
Debie: Stephen proposed in July 2011 in Harmony, California. We had just gotten back from Australia where, unknown to me, Stephen has asked my dad’s permission to marry me. We were on a road trip heading back down the California coast and stopped to view the ocean off a secluded cliff. Stephen was being very sweet and saying the nicest things and then pulled out a ring as asked me to marry him. I cried! Happiest day of my life!

How did you find your overall experience with the above vendors?

Debie: Most of my experience was very positive. My only real drama was with the bridesmaid dresses being ordered in the USA and the store failing to have them ready in time for me to bring them on my flight home to Australia.

Do you have any advice for other brides?

Debie: Do your research on vendors. Especially the photographer and DJ. A DJ can make or break the reception atmosphere and you cant redo wedding photos.

What made your wedding day so memorable?

Debie: The people. Having our international family and friends together in the one location was truly amazing. So much love and support from everyone made the day so much more memorable.

What was the weather and location like on the day?

Debie: Torrential rain!

If there was one thing that you would change from the day, what would it be and why?

Debie: Absolutely nothing!

It was such a beautiful day to photograph and we thoroughly enjoyed getting soaking wet – especially for the rainy road photograph. It was truly worth it! Thank you for your kind words and we hope you enjoyed your married life together in America!! Hopefully we can visit some day soon!
