As of this week, it has been exactly six months since I started my photography blog. What an amazing ride it has been. I thought it was time to say a few thank yous. Firstly I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all of the people who have stopped by my website and my blog. It has been amazing the support I have received!! Keep stopping by. The blog is constantly being updated with shoots, news and just general things happening in my life. A second big thank you goes to all of you who have booked a shoot with me over the past six months. Without your support I would probably not be here today.
Running a business is hard work. It’s not just taking photos but doing the marketing, book keeping, editing, writing business plans… all that fun stuff. I must admit I was a bit overwhelmed at first, but I have since been taking it step by step. There is also so many fantastic resources out there to help emerging photographers set up their business. I thought I’d give a shout out to some of the ones that I have found most useful:
GoingPro 2010: http://goingpro2010.com/
Skip Cohen and Scott Bourne – two amazing photographers who have been in the business for many years have set up this site to really help emerging photographers get started in business. There are so many helpful tips and tricks on the blog and they also create a fantastic podcast which I listen to while editing.
Today is Different: http://todayisdifferent.net/blog/
Recently I have joined the Twitter revolution and Robyn started following me on Twitter. Robyn runs a great resource site called Today is Different and provides some awesome information for photographers. She also has great links she posts on twitter, which I am really loving.
Brisbane Wedding Photographers Lunch Group: check it out here
This month I attended my first Brisbane Wedding Photographers Luncheon which was created by the lovely Paula Gray from That’s Me Photography. I was a bit nervous about attending my first lunch, but once I got there I felt embraced and had some fantastic discussions with a few other photographers. I walked away from the lunch feeling energized and excited that I had made some new photographer friends. I am really looking forward to the next one and can’t wait to chat with some more photographers!!!
So here is to the next six months!! I look forward to taking more photographs, meeting more people and building up the business so my first birthday will be one to remember!!!
To end with a quote:
“Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow” – Imogen Cunningham
So here is to tomorrow’s photographs! And below is one from this morning.. A new day rising..
Live. Laugh. Love. Create.
