The Landing Dockside Wedding Photographer | Matt & Amy

Matt & Amy | Wedding | Kangaroo Point | 4th January 2015

On Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Matt and Amy. After a week of crazy hot showery weather, I must admit I was a little nervous about what the weather was going to bring us, but luck was on our side, and Matt and Amy couldn’t of been blessed with better weather. It wasn’t too hot and we had perfect blue skies. We started off the day photographing the boys at their home. Matt, a man of very few words was looking very sharp in his navy suit. He was super excited to see Amy and how everything had come together after months of planning. The boys were very relaxed and easy to photograph. Then it was off to the girls who were getting ready at Dockside. Amy was just finishing up with hair and makeup as we arrived. Amy had so many beautiful details to photograph – two gorgeous dresses (one for the ceremony and one for reception) and a beautiful pair of sky blue heels! Amy is incredibly close to her grandparents and they played a very special role throughout the day, but one very special detail was the gorgeous hair piece her Grandma made for her. It featured pieces of lace, pearls and fabric from her Grandma and Aunty’s wedding dress which was something incredibly special. Amy looked stunning in her gorgeous strapless gown.

After we finished with the girls, it was down stairs to the lawn overlooking the river where Matt and Amy were to be married. Their celebrant Geoff crafted an absolutely beautiful ceremony which detailed Matt and Amy’s love story from when they first met 5 years ago. There were so many beautiful touches to the ceremony including Amy’s Grandma and Grandad walking down the isle as page boy and flower girl (Amy’s Grandma waited 87 years to be a flower girl), a beautiful reading from one of Amy’s close friends and a rose ceremony at the conclusion of the ceremony signifying the first gift the couple will receive as a reminder of the love they share and as a tradition to always include roses every anniversary or even to say sorry. It was a beautiful part of the day. Then it was off to make it official signing the register… even if there were a few little hiccups (like spilt black ink) before a big group photo and some family and friends special photographs.

After the formality, we headed off along the river to the Storey Bridge where we captured some absolutely beautiful bridal portraits. It was fun walking along the boardwalk with many cheers, congratulations and even a shirtless sunbaker photo bomber… The bridal party were great to photograph and Matt and Amy were such troopers even getting on the sand by the river for some gorgeous portraits under the Storey Bridge at dusk. Before long it was time to head back up to Dockside for a cocktail party to celebrate the newlyweds. Matt and Amy entered a little differently to most couples with a sparkler entrance! It was absolutely beautiful and a great way to kick off the party!

Thank you Matt and Amy for inviting me to photograph your wedding day. It was such a lovely afternoon filled with so many special moments and was a lovely way to start my 2015 wedding season. Congratulations and I can’t wait to show you the rest!
