Over the past couple of days, I was lucky enough to spend a long weekend in Melbourne!! I just love Melbourne. I think that if I didn’t live in Brisbane, I would definitely love living in Melbourne. The food is amazing, the shopping is awesome and there are actual seasons – sometimes literally in one day. I love that people dress better in Melbourne, that you can ALWAYS get a good coffee and I guess I just always feel a little more creative in this city.
We certainly made the most of our time in Melbourne. We ate as some A-MAZING restaurants – Vue de Monde , the Supper Inn, Maze by Gordon Ramsay, Stephanie Alexanders Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder and Grossi Florentinos. Vue de Monde was an amazing experience. It cost a fortune, but was worth every penny. We had the chef’s selection degustation menu accompanied by matching wines. I think all up, we had 21 plates served to our table with assortment of foods I’d never eaten before but tasted unreal. We were even lucky enough to score a walk through of the kitchen to see everyone at work. The dining room was funky and gave me some awesome visual inspiration and the service was impeccable. We even received a “Breakfast Bag” upon our departure. Totally unexpected but completely awesome! How great of a customer experience we had..
We did all the classic Melbourne spots – St Kilda, Fed Square, Bridge Rd, Queen Victoria Markets, the new development of Docklands and of course the amazing lane ways that lead you to classic beautiful restaurants and coffee shops. We shopped til we dropped, we ate until we burst and I bumped into an old high school friend and caught up for coffee with a friend from photography college. It was an amazing journey. I felt like I was away a lot longer than 5 days.
Just before our trip, I bought an awesome new little Nikon point and shoot. I decided as I wasn’t heading away for long, that I would rely on my point and shoot and iPhone hipstamtic to record me trip to Melbourne. All of the photos below are taken on the point and shoot.
Happy Tuesday!! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and if you have never been to Melbourne then you should go! It is beautiful!!!
I just love the autumn colours of Melbourne.. so beautiful.
So many yummy treats from the pastry shops.. I wish we had beautiful pastries like this in Brisbane (for treats only of course!)
