Mt Cootha Botanicals Wedding | David & Megan

David & Megan | Wedding | Mt Cootha Botanicals | 5th October 2014

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding day of David & Megan. It was such a wonderful day, the weather was perfect, family and friends had flown in from all around Australia and New Zealand to witness and celebrate the marriage of David & Megan. We started the day off with the boys at the Jepherson Hotel in Toowong. Dave was cool, calm and collected and his two groomsmen were keeping the mood light. Throughout the day many of the guests joked that Dave was a bit of a groomzilla, but I think he was just organised and liked being part of managing project wedding (Dave is a Project Manager). After some fun with the boys it was off to Megan’s bestie’s home for the bridal prep photos and Megan looked absolutely gorgeous!!! Her Luv Bridal gown was just divine and her hair and makeup brought out her natural features. As the limo arrived to pick up the girls (a surprise from her Dad) it was off to Botanicals at Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens for the ceremony, photographs and reception.

On the deck of the Botanicals Cafe and Function Centre, Ciara from Brisbane City Celebrants officiated a beautiful ceremony for David and Megan. The ceremony was filled with laughter (as Megan & her Dad walked down the aisle, her Dad jumped over the vases like an olympic hurdler only to give Megan a beautiful hug to pop off her sleeves), beautiful emotion and a lot of involvement from all who attended. One of my favourite moments and I am sure it was too for David and Megan was the hand fasting ceremony. They had a handful of their guests write personalised surprised vows that David and Megan had to agree to while having a ribbon tied around their hands. There were some beautiful vows, some funny vows and as a photographer witnessing their marriage, you could truly tell how much each and every person loved and admired David and Megan. After Ciara pronounced them husband and wife, they sealed their union with a kiss. Then it was off to have family photos and bridal party portraits around the beautiful botanical gardens.

Bridal party portraits were so much fun. These guys all made it so easy for Mel and I to capture some gorgeous photographs. We had the most yummiest afternoon light and so many different areas within the gardens to photograph. Brad kept us entertained through the photo session with his crazy walks and trying to catch wildlife antics that before we knew it, it was time to head back to Botanicals and celebrate into the night. And celebrate they did. We had an awesome Photo Booth at the reception where I think just about every guest had their photo taken, some yummy food and some beautiful speeches. The highlight though for me was being able to witness the extraordinary dancing abilities of one groomsmen – Brad. I definitely think the award for best groomsmen dancing of the year award goes to you Brad. Mel and I were in stitches! Then before we knew it, it was time to farewell the happy couple with a beautiful sparkler exit.

Thank you so much David and Megan for inviting me to be part of your wedding day. Mel and I had an absolute blast and I don’t think we have laughed so much with a bridal party. Enjoy your honeymoon and I can’t wait to show you the rest when you get back home.

And here is the crazy booth slideshow… (it may take a moment to load)
