Kathryn & Joshua | Wedding | Mt Cootha | 2nd June 2012
Back in June, I had the pleasure of photographing the gorgeous Kathryn and Joshua on their very wet and rainy wedding day. Even though the weather was dismal, we have anything but dismal photographs. In fact I would say we would have some of the most fun, joyful, spirited and romantic wedding photographs. The rain provided us with a unique background for our location photos and following the rain came a gorgeous fog that was just amazing to photograph in. It didn’t worry Kathryn or Josh either and they had a fantastic day despite the rain. Here is their real life wedding story.
Date of Wedding: 2nd June 2012
Number of Guests: 50
Wedding Theme: Romance & Fun
How did you meet and how long have you known each other?
Kathryn: Josh was in the same grade as my sister and we met through her. We have known each other for over 10 years but only started dating 6 years ago.
How did he propose?
Kathryn: It was so romantic! I thought we were going to the movies but Josh had actually hired out the whole cinema. When we went in to be seated the doors shut and my favourite song come over the sound system and a little slide show appeared on the big screen about us and our story. Then at the end of the song/slideshow the lights came up and he got down on one knee and proposed. I said yes and then cinema staff bought in some champagne and nibbles and we got to watch my favourite movie. It was perfect!!
How did you find your overall experience with the above vendors?
Kathryn: Some were brilliant and some not so. Shop around and only deal with people you get along with and have the utmost confidence in. If you have any doubts at the start, they will only grow throughout the planning.
Do you have any advice for other brides?
Kathryn: Decide early on what YOU want. If you seek everyone’s opinions their voices will drown out what your heart is telling you to do.
What made your wedding day so memorable?
Kathryn: Marrying the man of my dreams
What was the weather and location like on the day?
Kathryn: Weather was miserable, rained all week leading up to the wedding and didn’t hold back on the day either. BUT in the evening the rain stopped and mist descended on the mountain creating a very magical, romantic atmosphere. It was memorable and we got some unique photos if nothing else.
If there was one thing that you would change from the day, what would it be and why?
Kathryn: Nothing, I think everyone says this but… the day was perfect.
Thank you for sharing your Real Life Wedding Story with us. We had a wonderful day photographing your love in the rain and the fog. It truly did make for some magical photographs. Enjoy married life!!
