Holly & Zac | Wedding | Newstead House | 22nd September 2012
Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of heading out with the lovely Lisa from Lisa Clark Photography as a second shooter for the wedding of Holly and Zac. I had been wanting to do some second shooting for a while, but didn’t know who to ask or where to start. I met Lisa down at the AIPP Event in the Hunter Valley and got to know her really well. She was lovely enough to offer to let me come out second shooting for her over the weekend. It was so nice to just sit back, observe and just shoot. This is a rarity for me. When you are the head shooter, there are so many things that you need to worry about – capturing all of the traditional shots, making sure the light is right, giving everyone direction, capturing those moments. There are a million and one things going on in the brain that you don’t necessarily just get to breathe, think about and shoot differently to how you might normally do something.
It was also really lovely to see how Lisa photographs a wedding day and how it is different to how I photograph a day. It was nice for me to take a back seat. Observe the environment, look at the light and see how another photographer gives direction. I was able to capture a lot more candid moments and the going ons throughout the day then I normally would. I love being able to mix it up. It gives me a fresh perspective on how to approach a wedding day with me in charge. Thanks Lisa for everything. I had a wonderful day shooting with you and I really enjoyed being on the Pure Adrenaline boat!! Here is one frame of the bride and groom. How gorgeous are they!!
