On Friday I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Kevin and Giovanna! I was absolutely thrilled to be invited to be part of Kev & Gio’s day. You see Kevin and I went to uni quite a few years ago and he got in touch to ask if I was free to capture their wedding day. And luckily I was! It was such a beautiful day to be part of.
We started the day off at the Meriton in Southport with the boys and this stunning view!
Kevin looked rather smart in his navy Peter Jackson suit with red shirt and bow tie. And check out his cufflinks – Ironman!
Check out Kevin’s wedding band. I had never seen the hammered finish before. Xennox Diamonds did an amazing job with the rings!
Kevin was super relaxed getting ready and so excited to see Gio! The boys gave him a helping hand to get ready when needed!
That view! What a stunning day!
Before long we were off and heading down the road to see the girls. They were getting ready at a close family friend’s home on the broadwater. Gio looked absolutely stunning with her beautiful hair and makeup by Tina Kristen Weddings. Her gorgeous custom gown was designed by Rebecca Cobbing Couture! Bec even came down to the Gold Coast and dressed Gio in her gorgeous 50’s inspired gown. So gorgeous!!
How adorable is Gio and her Mum! So many beautiful moments between Mother and Daughter!
As a surprise for Gio, Kevin organised a 1959 Dodge convertible! She was so surprised and matched the theme of the wedding perfectly!!
Before long, we were off to the ceremony at The Wedding Pavillion at Parkwood Village. It is such a stunning location. These guys have really thought about weddings and ceremony locations and it was the perfect spot for Kevin & Giovanna to become husband and wife!
Giovanna’s brother Joe, walked her down the aisle. It was so beautiful to see their connection and how proud he was to walk Gio. I know Gio’s Dad would of been so proud.
The ceremony was officiated by the lovely Marilyn Vershuure. She created such a beautiful ceremony that detailed Kev & Gio’s beautiful love story including personalised vows, a champagne boxing ceremony and a Belgium Beer toast (a hommage to Kevin’s Beligum heritage). There were so many beautiful moments throughout the ceremony. The love that both Kevin and Giovanna share is a rare, beautiful love and you can see that they completely and utterly adore each other. Their relationship is one built on trust, love, loyalty, respect and family.
Kev’s Dad had the honour of presenting the Champagne box for Kev & Gio to add their love letters to each other and lock until their first anniversary. The idea is that they toast to their marriage with a glass of champagne while reading the love letters to each other. Then every year after that, they read their notes as an ongoing tradition.
And of course some Belgium beer for a toast!
After ten years together, they were finally husband and wife!
As a photographer, some of my absolute favourite moments of a wedding day happen during the congratulations.. And Kev & Gio’s wedding was no exception. The love and excitement from their family and friends was just beautiful to witness.
After the group photo and some family portraits, we headed off around the beautiful Parkwood Village Golf Course for some bridal party portraits. We had so much fun riding around in the golf buggies, playing with the beautiful afternoon sunlight and just having a ball taking photographs.
After the sun had set it was time to head back to the Eden Room to celebrate the night away! The room looked stunning filled with beautiful red and white flowers and so many fairy lights! The beautiful cake was made by Gio’s sister and was stunning!
The speeches were beautiful and full of lovely sentiment. Everyone toasted with champagne or Belgium beer! And the best man organised a special surprise for Kev & Gio. They play a weekly Dungeon and Dragons game and as part of that game there is a 20 side dice that apparently when you have to roll it in the game after disappointment you just stop and reset. The best man, gifted these guys a beautiful set of 20 dice for whenever they hit a rough patch they can just grab the dice and reset. They were so surprised!
Nothing like an eventful bouquet and garter toss. Initially the bouquet was missed so Gio had to re-throw it and then Kev got the garter stuck in some fairy lights!
And to finish off the night we headed outdoors with some bubbles and sparklers to create some beautiful night portraits.
A massive thank you to Kevin and Giovanna for the privilege of being able to photograph your beautiful wedding day. I was absolutely thrilled you asked me and I hope I did the day justice! I wish you both all the best in your married life together and I can’t wait to show you the rest of the photos when you get back from your European honeymoon!
And a massive thanks to Jess for her golf buggie driving, insta stories humour and just being a great second shooter!
