Over the weekend I had the pleasure of heading down to the beautiful QT Hotel on the Gold Coast for the beautiful wedding of Kirk and Sarah. I have know Sarah for quite a few years now so I was so excited to be invited to photograph her wedding day. On the Friday I must admit I was a little concerned about how the weather was going to play out, but thankfully we had blue skies and just a shower as we jumped back into the car after some portraits.
We started the day off we the boys getting ready. There was a little bit of chaos in the room when we first arrived, but luckily we pulled it together. The boys looked dashing in their black suits from MJ Bale. I loved their cuff links to – the groomsmen said “Legendary” and Kirk’s said “Suit Up”. After capturing some gorgeous portraits of the boys, we then headed upstairs to meet with the girls. They was also a little bit of craziness with the girls, but not to worry, we pulled it together. Sarah looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous gown and her bridesmaids were gorgeous in lilac. And the beautiful flowers by Poppy and Ivy, complimented the gowns perfectly. There were so many happy tears throughout the day, and even while Sarah was getting ready. I have never photographed a more emotional wedding. After some gorgeous photos with the girls, it was time to head downstairs to the beautiful ceremony.
The gorgeous ceremony was in the terrace at QT and Elegant Events did a wonderful job creating a stunning flower wall as a background for the ceremony. Sarah May Alexander officiated the ceremony. The ceremony was one of the most beautiful, heartfelt, hilarious, emotional ceremonies I have ever photographed. Each moment was personal and totally Kirk and Sarah and filled with so much love, happiness and emotion. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house! After a beautiful ceremony, the paper work was signed and Kirk and Sarah were announced husband and wife, then the celebrating began. After a group photo and some gorgeous family photos, we captured some beautiful bridal party photos in and around the hotel, before heading up to Southport Spit in Sarah’s Grandad’s car for some couple portraits. It was super windy up at the Spit and the clouds were building, but luckily they held off, just long enough for us to take our photos. Then it was back to the QT for an evening of celebration.
Kirk and Sarah made quite an entrance into their reception with smooth moves to Funky Cold Madina. I think it set the tone for such a beautiful reception full of great food, great company and hilarious, heartfelt speeches. The reception was pumping all night, especially on the dance floor. Graham Hobson Entertainment kept the party going long into the night.
Thank you so much Sarah & Kirk for the privilege of photographing your wedding day. It was my absolute honour. A big thank you also to Mary for being an awesome second shooter throughout the day. Enjoy your honeymoon guys and I can’t wait to see you when you get back!!!
