In August I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Andrew and Jessica out at Woodlands of Marburg. It was such a wonderful day. Andrew and Jessica were so happy and so excited to be getting married that they made my job so easy. Woodlands put on a spectacular sunset for us and even though the day was overcast and cloudy, it really added drama to the photographs. Here is the Real Life Wedding Story as told by Jessica.

How did you meet?
Jessica: Part time work at Woolies
How long did you date?
Jessica: Dated for 5.5 years, Engagaed for 20 months
How did he propose?
Jessica: After dinner at Aria followed by a city cat ride, he proposed on the Wheel of Brisbane.
What was your wedding date?
Jessica: 9 August 2014
Why did you choose this date? Any special reason?
Jessica: We really wanted a winter wedding and this was a date that worked out best for friends and family.
Where did you have your wedding?
Jessica: Woodlands of Marburg
Was there any special touches, vows, traditions or tributes that you included into your ceremony?
Jessica: No, just nice and simple
If you could pick one special moment from the day to remember what would it be?
Jessica: The whole thing! I loved and remember every moment of the day!!
Who designed your gown?
Where was it purchased?
Jessica: I bought it from Hills in Hollywood
What was your gown shopping experience like? Was this dress the first one you tried on? Did you try on hundreds, loved it, hated it?
Jessica: I went to a few places but Hills in Hollywood at Chermside let me spend as long as I wanted and let me try on any and every dress that I wanted and take photos. I liked my dress when I first tried it on but it was only later when I was looking through the photos from the day that I fell in love with it.
Where there any special details you included in your day? Did you borrow a piece of jewellery etc?
Jessica: I used an old gold brooch from my mother that was handed down to her from her great grandmother for my something old. I also had a blue garter from my mother-in-law as my something borrowed and blue.
What was your something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?
Jessica: Old – Brooch, Blue – Garter, Borrowed – brooch and garter, New – Everything else!
Did you have any DIY elements to your day?
Jessica: The only things we made ourselves were the table numbers. Everything else was bought and assembled

How did you find your overall experience with the above vendors?
Jessica: Excellent. Absolute standouts would have to be Jada Flowers, Diamond Cut, Michelle Anderson and Woodlands itself though. We had such an awesome team of vendors that it meant we could really sit back and enjoy ourselves and the day.
Do you have any advice for other brides?
Jessica: Plan every detail of the day and make sure you pick vendors that you are beyond happy with and that you can trust will do an outstanding job for you. Otherwise you end up stressing and not being able to enjoy your day. Also, consider everything – always expect the unexpected and you will never have any unwanted surprises!
What made your wedding day so memorable?
Jessica: Just having the whole family together to celebrate such a happy time.
What was the funniest memory from your wedding day?
Jessica: Andrew doing his spontaneous celebration dance once we were pronounced man and wife and had kissed at the end of the ceremony.
What was the weather and location like on the day?
Jessica: Weather was cloudy and cool but comfortable. Location was magnificent – Beautiful historic old wooden chapel set on the grounds of beautifully manicured lawns and gardens in the middle of Marburg, a typical country town with country sights all around – Dams, fields, trees, an old vineyard, mountains in the background and country air
If there was one thing that you would change from the day, what would it be and why?
Jessica: I wouldn’t change a thing. My day was absolutely perfect, I would do it again exactly the same way!

Jessica: Hayman and Hamilton Islands
