Happy Monday!! I thought to start the week off, I would post some more holiday snaps, to get you thinking about where you would like to go on your next holiday. I love holidays! It is what we work towards when we work!! Today’s photos feature the beautiful Pulau Payar where we went for a full day snorkelling tour.
The day started early with us being picked up by a bus at our hotel then the journey to Georgetown to the jetty began. It was still dark when we left, but by the time we arrived at the jetty the sun was starting to shine. It was a beautiful day. Clear blue skies with just a hint of white whispy clouds. We couldn’t of picked a better day. So we boarded the ferry, which was a crazy old diesel thing with seat numbers (that we had to stay in) and a vibration that I can still hear when I close my eyes. It was NOISY! After about 1.5hrs we finally arrived at Pulau Payar Island. It is the only spot in Malaysia to have a pontoon over the reef that you can snorkel from.
It was breathtakingly beautiful and we couldn’t wait to get in the water. We were a bit bummed that we weren’t allowed to use flippers (government would allow us to) but we jumped in anyway. As soon as I put my foot in the water, a fish BIT me!! I was freaking out!!! The fish get fed off the pontoon all the time and they must of thought my leg looked tasty. It freaked us out a bit, but finally we got over the nerves and jumped in. It was beautiful! There was so many fish and they were so friendly. The coral was a bit boring, mainly brown rocky stuff, but we occasionally saw a hint of electric blue coral. But what the reef lacked in coral, made up for in fish. There were so many kinds of fish and so many of them. We bought an underwater camera to take photographs of them, but it is old school film and I haven’t had them developed yet.
The day couldn’t of been more perfect. We snorkelled all morning, had an buffet lunch, headed over to the beach and then just floated around near the pontoon. The only annoying thing of the whole day was the tiny jellyfish in the water. They would sting a little but they were just annoying!!
So here are some of the photos from the day. I promise to post some of the film ones when I get them developed.
I hope these help you to dream about your next holiday. Believe me, places like this make me thankful that I can afford a holiday and that there are so many more places to explore on this planet!!
